One word that would get my kids excited and ready within minutes is “swimming” We were invited to the Speedo Splash Session event that was held at The Palace Downtown. “Oh Mama, I feel like we are inside one of the castles in my fairytale books.” Stepping outside the pool area was just as beautiful with a view of the tall buildings and Dubai water fountain. They promised a fun morning of swimming led by qualified instructors from the Speedo Swim Squad. I could not help but instantly say YES! because I knew my water babies will have fun. Daddy C and I are firm believers that kids should know how to swim. It is one life skill that they will have in them always. Kuya V had swimming lessons in his kindergarten years but this was no longer available when he transferred school so we made sure that he continue learning with him in our building pool and with a certified instructor. Chloe started swim lessons when she began Foundation Stage 1 and still continue to do so now since it is …
We have two copies of The Little Prince book but we have not finished reading the story. I bought our very first copy when I was pregnant to Kuya V, we never get to finish the book in one sitting though. Thankfully, a movie was released adapted from the story of the Little Prince last 2015. Oh how we enjoyed the movie and yes we finished the whole movie in one sitting. Vierte started flipping through the book and declared that he’s done reading it. An invite came to my inbox asking to bring the kids along for a magical and interactive experience to watch The Little Prince at The Courtyard Playhouse , I immediately replied YES. I knew that both Kuya V & LittleMiss C will enjoy the interactive play experience, it is also a first time for all of us. The Courtyard Playhouse, is Dubai’s first independent, family owned and run, KHDA licensed performing arts training centre dedicated improvised theatre. The theatre is located in Al Quoz area just right next to the Times Square and near …
Lately, my LittleOnes are into making slime – first one with borax and this time with chia seeds. The look on their face when everything comes together is priceless, it’s like magic happening right before their eyes. Johnson’s surprised us a gift basket of their newest Pure Protect Kids range. To the kids delight it included an exploration recipe booklet and one of the recipe is this slime dough we are sharing with you today. I was not able to take photos during playtime, our hands were sticky and play area so messy.
LittleOne’s asked me to take a video tutorial on how they made slime. Things you need to make slime. 1 tsp Borax powder 8 oz of White or Clear Glue 1 1/2 cup water Food coloring Procedure: Prepare two mixing bowls. Dissolve borax in 1 cup of water. In a separate bowl pour in glue and add a few drops of food coloring. Add 1/2 cup of water. Mix till combined. Pour the glue solution to the borax water and mix. After a few stirs you get a slime! *Borax is not available in Dubai, we bought our box in the US.
We’re back from our 3 weeks vacation and the kids are bored. They miss our busy schedule back in the US. Temperature in Dubai ranges from 36C in the morning and 40C in the afternoon, so playing outdoor is not a good idea. We were invited to have an afternoon of indoor fun at the Atlantis Fun Factory that offers an unlimited arcade games from 3pm to 10pm daily until August 23.
Fun City invited us to a Family Play Themed Morning’s at Oasis mall, it is the biggest branch in Dubai. They offer games, rides and play areas for all kids and adults, perfect plays to spend time with the whole family this summer. LittleMiss and I had an all girl bonding because the boy’s had a basketball game that morning. It was our first time at Oasis, the area was so big.
I love books and I can’t say No when the kids ask me to buy them one. We attended the Emirates Literature Festival and bought several books, one of them was by Julia Johnson – The goat who wanted to fly The story is about a goat who dreamt of flying as soon as he opened his eyes. He tried every possible way to fly like a bird but sadly failed. That did not stop him from dreaming, he climbed the tallest mountain and surprisingly woke up to a wonderful surprise – the goat found himself flying inside a hot air balloon.
We spent the evening at the park after dinner. Daddy and Kuya played basketball while we took a stroll. LittleMiss noticed the fallen leaves and flowers on the grass and asked if we can take them home. “Ahhh, it’s so cute Mama.” She was stroking the leaves and took notice of it’s bones (I don’t know the proper name), and that there was something different from each leaf. One of them was small and yellow while the other one was big and green. We slept with her nature stash from the park that night, I managed to save two leaves and turn them to art.
