LittleMan V has been planning a fishing trip with his cousin Ate Sophia even before we left for our annual vacation.  His fascination with fishing began last year when his Lolo Nonong told him stories of them fishing in the sea when Lolo was still working overseas at Marshall Islands.

 

 

LittleMan V had his first fishing experience last year at Carmen, Davao del Norte. It took 45 minutes before he caught his first Tilapia and he was hooked to fishing. This activity was something that he can’t stop talking about and on the top of the list of things he must do back in the Philippines.

 

Eden Nature Park is a 80 hectares mountain resort that is located 40 km. south of Davao City proper. The mountain resort offers a wide range of activities for everyone to enjoy one of them is the Fishing Village – where you get to experience fishing and eating your own catch. They have tilapia, dory and cat fish on the fish pond.

 

 

I told Ate Sophia and LittleMan V to catch (is that the right term?) 14 pieces of Tilapia and 2 pieces of Cat Fish – we will ask the resort to cook the fish for our lunch.

 

 

Ate Sophia caught the most fish and LittleMan V came in second place.

 

 

Pinaputok na Tilapia is a Filipino dish where in the fish is stuffed with generous amount of onions, ginger, and tomatoes. Fish is rapped in banana leaves then it is either deep fried, grilled or baked. Pinaputok is a Filipino word which means “explode” or “burst” – fish is in a state of exploding because of too much stuffing.
