#LetsMakeLunchFun Box with the Colors of the UAE Flag

Our second home, the United Arab Emirates is celebrating it’s National Day on the 2nd of December. A few weeks back, I pack a #LetsMakeLunchFun box with food representing the colors of the UAE flag. Packed inside our lunch box are apples, edemame, olives, yoghurt chicken & rice, and dates.   The flag colors represents the following: RED  – symbolize the sacrifice of previous generations who laid the foundations for the Union & sacrifices of the nation’a martyrs to safeguard UAE, its achievements and gains GREEN – symbolizes growth and prosperity WHITE – symbolizes UAE’s charitable contributions and the states approach to supporting the security and peace in the world BLACK – reflect the strength of Emirati citizens.     This post is part of the UAE Mom Bloggers Blog Hop for UAE’s National Day on December 2. Back To School Bento Ideas

Back to school Bento ideas

Summer vacation is almost over. We have a few days left till school starts and I have two students this year. Time fly by so fast, weren’t they just babies yesterday! We have books to cover and label, uniforms to sort, choose the right bag, plan for our kids lunch and snack in school. Here is a list of lunch & snack ideas for our kids: 1. My LittleOnes favorite for breakfast or to snack on when we are on the go is hands down chicken nuggets. You can make a batch ahead of time and it’s pack of assorted vegetables – carrots, broccoli, potato and celery – you can add whatever is available in your pantry. Definitely a much healthier option than those available in the market. 2. We never ran out of bananas in the house, the kids occasionally eat them as a fruit. They however cannot resist a slice of banana bread with streusel or banana pistachios oat chocochip cake. I usually wait for the bananas to have some spots before using them to bake. …

September Bentos

We are on the last week of September. I can finally say that we are all getting back to our routine after two long months of vacation back home. Honestly, mornings have been difficult this start of school month. I overslept and so did the boys, who needs to be out of the house by 6:30 am. I was grumpy most mornings – I had to prepare breakfast, school lunch and hush a LittleMiss who needs nanan because our loud voices woke her up. Instead of sharing a weekly round-up, here’s our September bentos – well those that I’ve managed to snap photos of.   LittleMan V now plans his school lunch with me. I suggested that since he’s turning 7 years old maybe he can start eating fresh/steamed vegetables, he agreed but requested that he get to choose which veggie.

First week with PlanetBox Rover

I’ve been searching for ways to pack healthy lunch for V since he started Junior 1 – a filling lunch since school start at 7:10 am and ends at 1:40 pm, I was constantly worried that he might get hungry. Since then I’ve been searching (obsessing) for lunchboxes. We currently own Sahara Tiger Lunchbox, Lock and Lock, GoodByn box and latest addition a PlanetBox.   The Planetbox Rover complete set sells for $59.95 and consists of: – main lunchbox that has 5 compartments – little dipper container – big dipper container – carrying bag – magnets – ice pack (they ran a promotion and got it for free) As soon as LittleMan V saw the PlanetBox Rover he got excited and requested that I pack his lunch in it the next day. I managed to pack 3 school lunch using the rover this week. Here they are: Recipes for lunch food below will be available in the coming weeks.

School lunchbox week 3 and an Easy Puff recipe

Some of our lunchbox food this week is just a repeat if what V had two weeks back. He just insisted on not bringing his heavy thermal Sahara lunchbox. Since my V requests almost the same kind of lunch food I will try and feature something new every week. I was getting bored preparing the usual deli meat sandwich every morning, as I was staring at our fruit bowl full of red and green apples (Vs favorite fruit) a sudden craving for McDo’s apple pie happened.

1st week of Junior 1

*sigh* My V all smiles inside his classroom for Junior 1. I asked him if he’ll stop kissing Mama in front of his friends because his in grade 1, V replied with a hug and wet kiss telling me I will never stop kissing you Mama. ( I will come back and show him this post when his a teen and refuse to give me a kiss!) We have survived 1st week of school and I admit I was the one nervous that I won’t wake up early enough (bus pickup at 6:13 am) and that I won’t pack enough food for him. I’ve been crazy searching the stores for the perfect lunchbox since V complained that the Sahara Tiger lunchbox is too heavy but hey it keeps his food warm even after 6 hrs! Vs week 1 school lunchbox feedback is that I send him way too much food. Too much? He comes home complaining he’s soo hungry! He explained that he doesn’t want to go potty #2 at school that’s why he doesn’t …
