BenQ GS2 : Movie on the go

We’ve had the GS2 on loan for our family to use for a few weeks now and it has given us a movie experience similar to a cinema setting at the comforts of our home. My kids have used it to watch age appropriate movies in the bedroom while we adults got uninterrupted movie time on our own. The GS2 will be a perfect companion when out and about, we definitely can’t wait to use it when its winter season here in UAE. Two reasons why BenQ GS2 is great for families: Made for OUTDOORS GS2 is splash and drop resistant which makes it a good choice for camping or any outdoor movie bonding. If only we’ve known about this nifty projector during camping season, our teens would have not been busy fiddling their mobile phones when it was too dark to wander around. Parents can entertain kids with 3 hours long worth of CocoMelon and Peppa Pig when its fully charged;  That is more than enough to prepare a camp site and prepare food. WiFi enabled which means, you can …

Forscherwelt Dubai

Largest Research Science Lab in Dubai

A dedicated science laboratory for kids ages 7 yrs – 11 yrs old opened at Children’s City, Creek Park. Forscherwelt (Researchers World) is a project between Dubai Municipality’s Children’s City and Henkel. The new, purpose-build science centre is the first of its kind in the Middle East and is the largest Forcherwelt Science Lab for children anywhere in the world. I attended the inauguration last November 18 and was treated to a VIP tour of the facility. Reviewing base alone on what I saw and heard is not enough. The best way to showcase the center is through the eyes of my kids and their friends. I gathered 17 kids from our Phases Basketball family for an afternoon of science fun at Forscherwelt. The kids are in for a treat because they were among the first batch to experience working on the lab. For many children, it is a rare opportunity to do hands-on laboratory work. Science taught in schools are often more about memorizing formulas, looking at pictures, and listening to their teachers telling …

McDonalds Mini Crew Camp

McDonald’s Mini Crew Camp

Future family goal is to own a McDonalds franchise. For now, both kids spent 4 days at the Mini Crew Camp to learn the ins and outs of kitchen work as well as good customer service. We won’t give out details of the fun activities that happened during camp because we want you and your child to experience it for yourself. One thing I can say is that the kids have declared it as one of the best summer activity they have done together. The 4-day camp is a one of a kind opportunity to be part of the McDonalds crew team and learn the inner workings of a McDonald’s kitchen. My kids came home with some fun facts such as fries are cooked at exactly 3 minutes and that McDonald’s produce their own ice cubes. Participants had a chance to be an actual McDonald’s crew during the on-floor training where they received and dispatched orders, and spoke to customers. At the end of the camp, kids went home with an appreciation on how McDonald’s …

omiebox review

Lunchbox Review: OmieBox

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. I receive a small commission at no cost to you when you make a purchase using my link. I have been packing my kids school lunches in an OmieBox several times for the past school year. Now, my kids and I can give you our thoughts on this product. OmieBox is the only compartment style lunch available in the market that is capable of storing both hot and cold food. Perfect for kids who enjoy hot meals for lunch. Pros: Tons of space, each compartment is a whole thumb deep which means you can pack a lot of food to satisfy a big appetite. The handle makes it easy for the kids to carry around without the need to pack it inside another bag. Leak-proof – each compartment is sealed individually, packing yoghurt is possible. Insulated bowl is made of two layers of stainless steel. I pack hot food around 6am and the kids said it still is warm by break time which is around 10am. A slider …

Meydan Friday Brunch

Meydan Friday Family Brunch

Are you looking for a brunch that would tick the box for great food, drinks and keeping the kids occupied?  The Friday Family Brunch at Meydan Hotel definitely ticked off every thing in the list. There is a massive buffet with a dozen of live-cooking stations spread in the garden area overlooking Dubai skyline and inside Farriers restaurant and foyer, offers an extensive culinary journey from around the globe featuring European, Middle Eastern, Asian and South American cuisines together with a wide variety of vegetarian specialties. Furthermore, BBQ lovers (that’s us!) are in for a treat, Meydan culinary chefs are making use of Josper which is the top-of-the-line Spanish ‘grill & oven’ known for its environment friendly aspect, consuming lower charcoal than open grill. Believe me, the richly flavored grilled meat has a deep smoke flavor that would make you come back for more. While the offerings is massive, it does not feel overwhelming  because of the floor to ceiling glass walls that brings in natural light, sitting area is not cramped that you can even …

Swissotel The Playhouse Brunch

Swissotel Hotel which opened early this year at Al Ghurair Dubai recently launched The Playhouse Brunch in Liwan Restaurant  which focuses on keeping the little diners entertained. A brunch can last up to 4 hours long and the truth is kids are fed within the first 30 minutes after which they are just bored waiting for the adults to be done.  As a mom one of the important brunch element I am looking for is keeping the kids entertained with engaging activities. Happy kids means a relaxing brunch for parents.  A dedicated room where kids can play, have their face painted, work on some crafts and a Nintendo Switch for bigger kids. Another area was all about “playing with food” where the kids get to design cupcakes and cookies with the guidance of Swissotel Chef’s. Parents can dine at peace because the hotel went an extra mile with the installation of CCTV cameras on all the kids area. Wide screen TV are strategically placed in the dining area for the parents to view while enjoying …

Movenpick Friday Brunch

Giveaway: Back to School Friday Brunch

Giveaway! Celebrate your kids milestone of adjusting well to school life with a Friday Brunch. We did just that at Movenpick Bur Dubai’s ‘Back to School Friday Brunch’. It was a well deserved treat for the kids and us parents too. They offer a wide variety of food selection to cater to every one’s liking. Some meals were even served in a tiffin box keeping up with the theme. A wheelbarrow carrying assorted seafood visits each table. A dedicated kids room located at first floor has a buffet which offers Movenpick’s Power Bites menu. I felt that the room needed more attention specially to keep younger kids entertained. Game consoles are available as well which kept the older kids occupied. The kids room is on the first floor while the buffet area was at the ground floor, I suggest that you accompany your children specially if they are under 6 years old. Join the giveaway over at our Instagram page, here.   Terms and Conditions: The gift voucher is for a Friday Brunch for 2 …

Go watch! La Perle by Dragone

Last month, we had the opportunity to watch La Perle at Al Habtoor City. It was AMAZING! well more than amazing really, no photo or video you see online will do any justice to what the show has to offer. If you are clueless on what it is, read up! La Perle by Dragone is the first permanent show in the region, produced by cultural creative company Dragone, directed by the legendary artistic director Franco Dragone and brought to Dubai by the Al Habtoor Group. La Perle is a live entertainment, taking place in a tailor-made aqua theatre. So many things are happening in the show, don’t dare blink or you will end up missing something. One moment someone is walking on the ceiling then you will notice another performer gracefully dancing at the corner. Aqua Theatre The stage gets flooded and dry in a few seconds. I was scared that performers might fall in the pool while doing their routine. At one point, it was raining! More snippets of the show can be seen on …
