Are you looking for a brunch that would tick the box for great food, drinks and keeping the kids occupied?  The Friday Family Brunch at Meydan Hotel definitely ticked off every thing in the list. There is a massive buffet with a dozen of live-cooking stations spread in the garden area overlooking Dubai skyline and inside Farriers restaurant and foyer, offers an extensive culinary journey from around the globe featuring European, Middle Eastern, Asian and South American cuisines together with a wide variety of vegetarian specialties. Furthermore, BBQ lovers (that’s us!) are in for a treat, Meydan culinary chefs are making use of Josper which is the top-of-the-line Spanish ‘grill & oven’ known for its environment friendly aspect, consuming lower charcoal than open grill. Pizza is a complete meal in one bite. Agree?  This is one meal that my kids can eat every day without question even when it has vegetables as toppings. Well, except for Chloe who would only touch a pepperoni pizza.  The sad truth about pizza though is that it is best eaten straight out of the oven. Packing them for lunchbox is a hit and miss depending on the crust, it can get soggy. Cupcakes that taste like your favorite pizza only this one does not get soggy when packed for school lunch or road trip. PERFECT!  One important thing to remember when you make these, use a silicon or grease proof cupcake liner because they will stick to regular ones.  Another option is to not use liners at all and just grease your cupcake pans.

Swissotel Hotel which opened early this year at Al Ghurair Dubai recently launched The Playhouse Brunch in Liwan Restaurant  which focuses on keeping the little diners entertained. A brunch can last up to 4 hours long and the truth is kids are fed within the first 30 minutes after which they are just bored waiting for the adults to be done.  As a mom one of the important brunch element I am looking for is keeping the kids entertained with engaging activities. Happy kids means a relaxing brunch for parents.  A dedicated room where kids can play, have their face painted, work on some crafts and a Nintendo Switch for bigger kids. Another area was all about “playing with food” where the kids get to design cupcakes and cookies with the guidance of Swissotel Chef’s. Parents can dine at peace because the hotel went an extra mile with the installation of CCTV cameras on all the kids area. A recognition of any form for something one is passionate about is a big pat in the back that you are doing a great job. Every year when the list for Time Out Kids Awards comes out a little sparkle  of hope lingers that maybe just maybe this year I will see my name on the list. To see Cuddles and Crumbs on the list of Parent Blog for the Time Out Dubai Kids Awards 2018 was a surprise. I honestly feel like a winner! My glammed up look was all thanks to friends who loaned me the dress, shoes and bag for the night. Thank you Chiqui and Mheann! I needed to have an Oscar worthy hair and make-up that was made possible by Shella Amer.  It was a night to remember because I was all glammed up for a black tie event. Recipe: Cheese Cupcakes

Cupcakes loaded with cheddar cheese! I can’t decide whether its savory or sweet but I can guarantee you that the cupcakes are delicious. Chloe sells cupcakes at her Kuya V’s basketball practice and these always gets sold out. The batter has cheese in it and topped with more cheese. My kids have been using their own money to buy stuff that they want while we (the parents) cover every thing they need. I will share more how we are (hopefully) teaching them to be more responsible with managing their finances well. We have always baked using grams, below I roughly converted it in cups. Recipe yields to more than 2 dozens depends on the size of your cupcake pans.

It was a well deserved treat for the kids and us parents too. They offer a wide variety of food selection to cater to every one’s liking. Great for lunch box too. I get our Bok Choy stash from WestZone supermarket and during the winter season at the Farmers Market.
