Dino Live

C got a good deal from Cobone for the Dino Live show. The tickets are valued at Dhs 169 and we only got ours for Dhs 49/each which includes a orange slush, popcorn, a photo-op, and Dhs 25 worth of voucher to buy some souvenirs. The show starts of with a 3D movie about a baby dinosaur who lost her mommy and some information on how they lived.  V kept on asking if the Dinosaurs will hurt us and asking “They are extinct right Mama?”  we kept reassuring him that what he will see are just giant dinosaur toys so kids will know how they look like. It was a good exhibit but I still prefer the first one that we saw back home at SM MOA when V was still 1 year old.

Happy New Year!

This is our 2nd New Year here in Dubai and we once again spent it with friends watching fireworks at the Jumeirah open beach. We went to the beach prepared with our tent, BBQ stuff, food, blankets, and chairs. The tent was up and the grill was set on fire when 3 beach guards (we think) approach each group asking to put down tents and turn off the fire since it was not allowed. A bit of a boohoo since we were all looking forward for some warm soup (we had beef mami) and bbq’d  hotdogs while waiting for the show.     Luckily the couple R+L  prepared some Kaldereta and I prepared a few fresh Vietnamese Spring Rolls or else we could have been hungry all night.   We did manage to sneak in some bbq while waiting for the grill fire to die down :). V had so much fun playing in the sand while waiting for the fireworks. He just kept on asking us whether it was time yet for the …

Pregnancy Scare

Entering our 6th week I experienced an on and off pain in my lower left pelvic. The sudden pain when I move would last about a minute then goes away. I’m naturally a worrier especially after giving birth to V and the worry-some me has doubled and emotions have heightened with this pregnancy. One afternoon the pain was back – a sudden stabbing pain and it lingered till late night. Immediately I sent a message to my OB and describe the pain. Her reply was “We should be worried. Please go to the City Hospital and have a scan. It could be an ectopic pregnancy” wikipedia – An ectopic pregnancy, or eccysis , is a complication of pregnancy in which the embryo implants outside the uterine cavity. If this is the case the only option was to terminate the pregnancy as it could also cause harm to the mother. I cried myself to sleep. C kept re-assuring me that everything will be alright. The next day we headed to my OB’s clinic to have a scan. I tried my best to not …

Expecting a plus 1

It has been weeks that I’ve been craving for salty food. I’m such a lazy Mama this week. The only thing that I manage to do with a smile is to eat and sleep and eat and sleep. Then I had a feeling that something is just not quite normal. A good change.   A positive result – we are pregnant!  We are on the early stage of pregnancy, 5 weeks to be exact. I’d like to ask you to say a little prayer for our safety.

Happy 4th Birthday Vierte!

How time flies, 4 years back Mister God surprised C and I with a special gift our little man. Last October 17 he turned 4 years and all he wanted was McDonalds Nuggets with toy and Dragon Cake. When I asked him what cake he wanted for his birthday, V reached for my 50 Easy Party Cakes by Debbie Brown book and pointed on the green Dragon Cake but requested his dragon to be red “It’s my favorite color Mama.” Teacher asked us to be at the school by 9:30 am so the kids would have some time to enjoy the food and cake. But the traffic lights had a different plan and we arrived late about 9:45 am the kids were about to start eating snack. We didn’t have enough time to put the dragon eggs and take pictures with the cake plus C’s camera went bonkers on us and just wouldn’t allow us to take good photos. The kid’s reaction when they saw the cake was just priceless. V kept telling his classmates …

We survived 1st week of school

A week has passed since V started kindergarten and we can conclude that he is enjoying his time. Few funny things happened though… Sunday (1st day of swimming lessons):    He went home with an extra swimming trunks and when I asked him about it, he insisted that his friend gave it to him. As I was stripping him off his school uniform to my surprise “Where’s your brief, love?” he replied with a smile “I gave it to my friend.”  When C arrive home from work he proudly showed his dad the extra trunks “I have a surprise for you Daddy! Taaannaaan…See new underpants!” Monday:     “Ma, Teacher got upset with V because I don’t know how to listen” This was the only day that he didn’t come home with a star on his hand (or face) Tuesday (P.E. Class):     Came home wearing a different pair of shoes. Wednesday:     He would always greet me with a big smile as the school bus door opens but today was different he look …

a happy basketball day to my bana – C

C turned 33 last September 8 and we didn’t get to celebrate 😦 but I made him a basketball themed cupcake and cake that we shared among friends. His office big boss was in Dubai on his birthday week, he went home late to attend meetings and entertain guests who flew from Thailand and London. He instead had birthday dinner with them, to which V complained “Why no daddy? It’s night time and happy birthday today.” He’s not into big celebration for his birthday, and was even not too keen to bring the basketball themed cupcakes (above) in the office. “Ma why did you have to make yourself too busy forming fondant (he hates fondant) when all I wanted was plain chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing.” When he saw my sad face, “Love, I just don’t want you to get tired. Thank you for the cupcakes.” Yes, he’s appreciative and sweet that way.  I also want to make the cupcakes pretty! Would it not be more odd if I designed a 33 y.o grown man’s …

Little Man went to school

We have been preparing V for months, talking about playing with friends in school and him riding a school bus with no Mommy. Day before kindergarten start we had this conversation… M: You will go to school tomorrow na. V: Don’t be sad Mama. You’re a big girl, just cook adobo and wait for Vierte. And he gave me a big hug and a yummy wet kiss. Writing this now just makes me cry, wasn’t it not just yesterday that I gave birth to a bouncy baby boy. Books covered and labeled. Uniform washed and ironed. Shoes brushed and socks ready. V all set for school. I was up at 3:30am definitely excited for V’s school day and by 6am breakfast was ready. Daddy C slowly whispered to him “it’s time to wake up little boy.”  We had a bit of a struggle that morning V crying that he wants Mommy to go to school with him. “I don’t have a mommy to embrace me there” After bath time he was his cheerful self again …
