Disney On Ice Dubai

We went to Disneyland Hong Kong last year, sadly we didn’t get a chance to meet all the Princesses – a reason that we have to go back. Dad and I had a long discussion on what show to watch that weekend (Hi-5 or Disney) – we finally decided on Disney on Ice. I watched Disney on Ice as a kid with my siblings and cousins in Manila way back 1990 at Araneta Coliseum – I’m asking Mama to look for photos. We bought tickets for the kids and I to watch Disney on Ice Rockin Ever After. I also joined several giveaways to win tickets to both shows. We won family tickets to watch Disney On Ice from Etisalat!

Healthy Frozen Dessert with Yonanas

Ice cream is one dessert that all of us love at home!  It’s a bit of a problem since we are trying to cut unhealthy sweets in our diet. I saw a Yonanas ad on YouTube back in March 2013 and I want to have one! Just before we left for our summer vacation, we were invited by Dole for the media preview of Yonanas hosted by  Marina Mums at MAKE Business Hub Dubai.     Yonanas promises to give you a healthy frozen dessert that is sugar-free and dairy free. A machine that uses a new technology to transform frozen bananas and other fruit into a dessert that looks and tastes like an indulgent soft-serve ice cream.   Now, you might argue with me and say that – you can also use your good old blender to make one. I agree that you can make a healthy dessert with your blender, I tried but was never successful in achieving the creamy ice cream texture using one … and how many of us are comfortable having our …

Product Review: Palmer’s Skin Therapy Oil

I’ve been using Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil for almost two weeks now and I’m impressed. A pump nozzle to dispense the oil makes it easy to use and avoids spilling all over the place. Pumping the right amount does take a bit of getting used too though because when you push the pump all the way down it shoots out a lot of oil.   I applied Skin Therapy Oil on four areas – face, neck, CS keloid and stretch marks. Surprisingly, oil was easily absorbed in all areas. Stretch Marks: Creams I used during pregnancy did not work on my skin. Almost two years after giving birth via CSection to two kids, marks became faint white lines – no noticeable change so far. I have accepted the fact that my pregnancy marks will stay with me forever and I’m happy with that. CS Keloids: Occasionally my stitch gets really itchy, makes me want to cut it open and scratch the insides. Therapy Oil didn’t solve problem but it eased itchy level …

First week with PlanetBox Rover

I’ve been searching for ways to pack healthy lunch for V since he started Junior 1 – a filling lunch since school start at 7:10 am and ends at 1:40 pm, I was constantly worried that he might get hungry. Since then I’ve been searching (obsessing) for lunchboxes. We currently own Sahara Tiger Lunchbox, Lock and Lock, GoodByn box and latest addition a PlanetBox.   The Planetbox Rover complete set sells for $59.95 and consists of: – main lunchbox that has 5 compartments – little dipper container – big dipper container – carrying bag – magnets – ice pack (they ran a promotion and got it for free) As soon as LittleMan V saw the PlanetBox Rover he got excited and requested that I pack his lunch in it the next day. I managed to pack 3 school lunch using the rover this week. Here they are: Recipes for lunch food below will be available in the coming weeks.

Easter Brunch at JW Marriot Hotel

We celebrated Easter Sunday and our 7 yrs wedding anniversary at JW Marriot Hotel. Dad’s company was one of the few companies that was on holiday that day, we were fortunate to be able to hear mass and celebrate Easter with our closest friends. Most of the hotels here in Dubai had Easter brunch activity scheduled on a Saturday since Sunday is the start of work week here. We agreed to book an Easter brunch at The Market Place of JW Marriot Hotel. Brunch cost 300 Aed and we can use our Entertainer voucher of Buy 1 buffet and get 1 free, so that makes 150 each person, a good deal.

Boodle Fight at Blackbeard’s Seafood Island Grill

Few days before we left for Davao, Mama treated us to a boodle fight style of dining at Blackbeards Seafood Island located at Abreeza Mall. Boodle Fight is a military style of eating where long tables are prepared and food are on top of the banana leaves. Viands and rice ready to eat using your bare hands, jugs of water are prepared on the side to wash hands before the “eating combat”. With the signal to start the boodle fight, everyone aims for his/her position. – Urban Dictionary

Shakshouka – Baker & Spice

We found ourselves enjoying the view of Burj Khalifa early Saturday morning after hearing mass, while waiting for Baker & Spice to serve breakfast at 8 am. Kids amused themselves by taking photos, going up and down the stairs and waving to Dubai fountain cleaner. I’ll have Shakshouka please as soon as the waiter handed us the menu, he cheerful replied “which one, madam?” I look down on the menu,  I indeed had 3 choices on how I want my shakshouka – red, green and matbukha. I ordered Capuccino and the boys shared a cup of thick Mexican Hot Chocolate – the best hot chocolate we’ve had here in Dubai. Shakshouka Matbukha – 4 eggs poached on a homemade tomato and red peppers sauce with garlic, chili and olive oil. Four sunshiny egg goodness served with freshly baked farmhouse bread = a good morning indeed! We all enjoyed every bit of sauce. V who swears he doesn’t like tomatoes and peppers (I didn’t tell him dish consists of the mentioned ingredients) exclaimed that it’s one of …

Kidzania presents First Kinder Chocolate Factory for Kids

My LittleOnes and I were invited to the opening of the first Kinder Chocolate Factory for kids at Kidzania, Dubai Mall. We registered and were ushered to go inside the theatre and wait for the event to start. Inside the theatre, the most amazing balloon artist I’ve met kept the kids and adults in awe with his balloon creations – he made Vierte a jetpack and Chloe a penguin. We also enjoyed munching on chocolate chip cookies, red Jell-O, chicken spring rolls and fruit juice. The event started with speeches from Mr. Giovanni Martini, VP Marketing for Ferrero Middle East and Kidzania Governor, Mr. Francois Yves Pain. A key to finally open the world’s first Kinder Chocolate factory was presented which only means “let the fun begin!” Groups of six children at a time will be able to experience the simulation of chocolate production for the duration of 20 minutes. Work at Kinder Chocolate Factory started off with wearing uniforms and introduction class on the ingredients use to make a yummy kinder chocolate. Children get …
