Too early for Valentines? Maybe. Too early to make something special? No. LittleMiss’: “Mama, where my boy’s?” She specifically calls her big brother “boy or boys.” As soon as she see’s Kuya V’s school bus she would declare “My boy’s is here! Hey, boys look my toy.” We made this paper plate  heart’s for our boy’s.
Kuya V is officially on winter break, yey. I have to keep both of them busy and spend as much less time watching cartoons. I got the idea from a table centerpiece we saw at the Gingerbread house decorating event. Welcome to the December #TrailingSpouseStories blog crawl! This December, we talk about the much anticipated and somehow dreaded, ultra sentimental Christmas holidays. How were the Christmas holidays outside your home country? Â How is it similar and different? Â What did you enjoy most spending Christmas abroad? Find out how we spend our holidays and how it feels to spend it in different corners of the globe, so don’t forget to read more stories of fellow trailing spouses at the end of this blog post. We have spent 4 Christmas’ here in Dubai, and I can say that we are getting better at making our own traditions each year. I initially thought that we won’t feel Christmas’ festivity here, since we are living in a Muslim country – I was wrong. Almost all establishments have decorations that would definitely put one in a holiday cheer. 2009 This year was supposed to be our first Christmas as an expat family but we decided to go home for the holidays.
Lately, LittleMiss is not very fond of her stroller – “No! Walk march me, Mom.” When her path is clear, she let’s go of my hand and walk by herself. Kuya V’s first time to cross the road alone. LittleMiss was yelling at her “No. Stop. Look, left and right.” I felt a sense of pride and sadness, the realization that he’s a big boy now. “See, Mom! I did it! Checked for cars and cross street. Kalas! ” Soon, he’ll ask that I no longer walk with him.
We visited The Mind Museum during our 2013 Philippines vacation. Tadaah! V remembered our trip to the museum and asked if we have a similar one here in Dubai (still looking). The Mind Museum is located at Taguig City, it is an interactive Science museum that encourages visitors to touch and experience featured exhibits in their five galleries: Life, Atom, Earth, Universe and Technology. Here’s a glimpse of what we saw inside: Aedi, the robot – welcomed all guest’s and talked about the exhibits we’ll get to see inside the museum.
For the past two weeks, we’ve been busy preparing for LittleMan’s 7th birthday party. Him and Dad had specific instructions on how the cake would look like and most importantly that I be the one to make it. “Mom, you’re the only one allowed to make my cake!”
LittleMan V has been planning a fishing trip with his cousin Ate Sophia even before we left for our annual vacation. Â His fascination with fishing began last year when his Lolo Nonong told him stories of them fishing in the sea when Lolo was still working overseas at Marshall Islands. LittleMan V had his first fishing experience last year at Carmen, Davao del Norte. It took 45 minutes before he caught his first Tilapia and he was hooked to fishing. This activity was something that he can’t stop talking about and on the top of the list of things he must do back in the Philippines.
