A relaxing family stay at Novotel Fujairah

Last weekend, we packed some stuff and drove to Fujairah. Novotel Hotel was our host for two nights, which is located at the heart of the city and just a few minutes away from the city mall. You can search for Hotel Novotel Fujairah on your google maps for easy navigation. Daddy C mentioned that Novotel/Ibis hotel’s caters mostly to business travelers. I didn’t do any research on what the hotel has to offer for our family of four, Daddy was sure though that if they have a swimming pool then him and the kids will be happy.

Road to Fujairah

Last weekend, we packed our bags for a short trip to explore Fujairah, one of the seven Emirate of the UAE. The UAE is composed of seven Emirates namely (as dictated by Kuya): Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quawain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. We first visited the Emirate last 2009 along with our friends, Dad recalled that it took us almost 3 hours of drive. He decided to take the day off and wanted to leave as soon as Kuya get’s back from school. I told him of the new road and when we searched for our destination – Novotel Fujairah , google maps estimated our time travel to be 1 hr and 40 mins from Al Qusais. The Sheikh Khalifa Highway which was opened last 2011, took almost 4 years to complete. A relief to those who travel daily from Dubai to Fujairah. Here’s a few photos I took on our way. I was seated on the front and Daddy C was driving. Mountains, we can see them in the horizon along Sharjah-Kalba road.   …

Aling Foping’s Halo-Halo

Halo-halo is the Philippine’s ultimate summer dessert.  It’s the perfect treat as soon as the weather heat’s up. I remember consuming at least 2-4 glasses of Razon’s halo-halo weekly when I was pregnant with Kuya V. Aling Foping’s is a well-known outdoor eatery in Davao located at Matina Town Square (MTS), famous for it’s halo-halo, bibingka and chili con carne. It still remains to be one of our pit stop when we’re visiting Mama in Davao, it’s her favorite place to get this cold treat.

A trip to The Mind Museum

We visited The Mind Museum during our 2013 Philippines vacation. Tadaah! V remembered our trip to the museum and asked if we have a similar one here in Dubai (still looking). The Mind Museum is located at Taguig City, it is an interactive Science museum that encourages visitors to touch and experience featured exhibits in their five galleries: Life, Atom, Earth, Universe and Technology.  Here’s a glimpse of what we saw inside: Aedi, the robot – welcomed all guest’s and talked about the exhibits we’ll get to see inside the museum.

Traveling with Tots: Activity Kits

Many of you are probably travelling somewhere this month. We are leaving in a few days, just the kids and I in an 8 hour flight to Hong Kong then another 2 hours to Manila. LittleMan V is 6  and LittleMiss Chloe 2 years old. I don’t remember what state of mind I was when I agreed to travel alone with two kids. We are pretty lucky as far as travelling with LittleMan V, he’s happy with food and movie. It is a different case with the LittleMiss who is happiest when she’s playing with some toys/stuff: last year she gathered all the magazines and placed them on the bassinet then out then back again. Goodluck to me. I gathered some toys we already have around the house to help me keep kids busy for our trip.   Assorted Activity Cards consists of numbers & alphabets, maze, find the difference and color cards. Stickers and colored pens will keep them happy.  Item bought at Brands for Less.   Memory Game. LittleMiss still can’t understand the concept …

Boodle Fight at Blackbeard’s Seafood Island Grill

Few days before we left for Davao, Mama treated us to a boodle fight style of dining at Blackbeards Seafood Island located at Abreeza Mall. Boodle Fight is a military style of eating where long tables are prepared and food are on top of the banana leaves. Viands and rice ready to eat using your bare hands, jugs of water are prepared on the side to wash hands before the “eating combat”. With the signal to start the boodle fight, everyone aims for his/her position. – Urban Dictionary
