Toko Family garden brunch

Family Garden Brunch at Toko Dubai

The weather is perfect to spend outdoors and I don’t feel like cooking on weekends. During this time we find ourselves going and eating out. Luckily, here in Dubai we are spoilt with so many brunch offers that the whole family can enjoy. We recently went to the Family Garden Brunch at Toko located at Vida Downtown. It was our first time to dine at Toko and we immediately fell in love with its Japanese themed garden. Adorned with colorful floating Japanese umbrellas, a relaxing water feature and tall trees, a secret garden in the middle of a concrete jungle. Toko’s brunch is divided in two, an outdoor barbecue/carving area which offers sweet chilli Angus beef skewers, rib eye steak and miso glazed black cod to name a few and inside the restaurant a beautiful spread of dim sums, desserts, raw salads, sushi and sashimi. If that’s still not enough to convince you, I hope the photo’s will. The brunch setup was not overwhelming which we really liked. It doesn’t mean though that you will leave hungry. If you love Japanese food the selection was …

Saray Sultan Jumeirah 3

Ottoman cuisine at Saray Sultan

We were invited to dine at the newly opened Saray Sultan, the newest Turkish restaurant in Dubai that promises to serve authentic Ottoman cuisine in Dubai.   Saray Sultan has glass walls and open terrace that’s perfect for the lovely weather we have right now. The LittleOne’s chose to sit inside because they wanted to see how the chef’s prepare our food. Daddy C and I ordered our favorite appetizers – Baba Ghanoush and Hummus which was serve with a huge warm Turkish bread. The smell of freshly baked bread was divine, I had to remind the LittleOnes’ that they have to leave space for the main dish. For drinks we had Lemon Ginger Mint, Fresh Orange, Mango and Homemade Aryam. We were the only diners that Friday lunch time and had the opportunity to go inside the kitchen. How the chef’s work in the kitchen always fascinates Kuya V. Thank you Chef Zafer and Chef Lemuel for allowing us inside your kitchen. As much as we wanted to try something unfamiliar in the menu like the Belen Tawa Saute …

Family date night and Truffles at Rosso, Amwaj Rotana

We were invited by Amwaj Rotana to dine at their Italian restaurant Rosso. It’s truffle season and they have a special menu featuring the diamond of the culinary world. I was very excited for my bunch to try real shaved truffles, they have only tried truffle infused oil on pasta’s I cook at home. The bar area was already full at 7:30 pm that Friday night, we sadly did not have the option to dine al fresco because of the sandstorm. We walked past the busy bar to the sitting area which had a good view of the kitchen. My LittleOnes always like to see the chef’s prepare the food so that kept them busy while we browsed the menu. Dad and I was settled to try their truffle dishes while the kids asked for pizza, steak and chicken. A complimentary basket of bread with butter and olive paste was served. For starters we had Beef Carpaccio Manzo with Black Truffles and AntiPasto Misto. The carpaccio was good start to our night, the dish had …

Eggspectation Restaurant review

Eggspectation, is it just eggs?

Kuya V: “What are we having for dinner?” Me: “We have a reservation at Eggspectation.” Kuya V: “Eggs for dinner? Only eggs in the menu? I’m so hungry, I can’t just have eggs.” I think he imagined green eggs in the menu which prompted a request to get burgers and ice cream after dinner. He was that worried. You really can’t blame the kid, the name Eggspectation does begin with egg which suggest that their menu mostly consists of different ways eggs are prepared and of course breakfast. I am happy with breakfast options anytime of the day. So, is it really just eggs and breakfast dishes in the menu? Warm welcome greeted us as we entered the restaurant, the place was not full that Friday night so we were immediately seated. Ms. Aschely was assigned to take care of us, both kids were given activity papers with the kids menu on it and some crayons, a baby chair was offered for LittleMiss but she only want to sit with me. The place looked big because of …

Max's Restaurant Dessert Platter

Coming home with Max’ Restaurant

Living abroad or traveling overseas make’s one crave for something familiar. It could be as simple as vanilla ice cream that brings back memories of summer spent biking with friends. Dining at Max’s Restaurant satisfies every Overseas Filipino Worker’s need to have something from home. Several Filipino restaurants have opened here in Dubai, but this franchise has a special place in the hearts of Pinoy. Why? Probably, 5 out of 10 Filipino family have once in their life celebrated a special occassion with Max’s restaurant. Our family for one has held a baptism, birthday, wedding and reunion with them.

Rosa Mexicano, The Dubai Mall

Earlier this month we were invited to dine at Rosa Mexicano’s Dubai Mall branch. Our knowledge of Mexican food is limited to guacamole and burritos. This is our second time dining at Rosa Mexicano and they definitely opened our taste buds to something more. We ordered a single serving of guacamole which is good for 2 to 3 persons, we had enough leftovers to feed another person. Among the three included in Tres Antojitos the best one for us are the empanadas. Our family is kind off addicted to liquor free margaritas and mojitos, Kuya V ordered another glass.
