Year: 2014

YouGotAGift

7 years of being together and I am still having a hard time finding the perfect gift for my husband. I surely fail in that department. Last year, for his birthday we bought a mini player that he can use while jogging at the park. The day after I bought the player, he came home and declared that he loaded his blackberry with songs for his run. Really!! I just bought you a player that you’ll get in a few days and you tell me you have the blackberry for that! Dilemma in buying Mr. C a gift. 1) He almost always manage to buy something similar to what I already bought him 2) I rarely go out without him – I don’t drive and travelling with two kids in tow with bags is challenging. 3) If and when the kids and I manage to go gift shopping for dad – V declares “Daddy, we have a surprise for you! Mama, Chloe and I bought you a …” as soon as he see’s Dad. Father’s …

Just before you turn two

My sweet Chloe Isabelle, In a few weeks you will turn 2 and I haven’t even shared how we celebrated your first birthday. You blew your 1st birthday candle in three different cities – Hong Kong, Manila and Davao. We bought a Mango Creme Cake at Maxims Bakery in Hong Kong. It was our last day in Hong Kong when you turned a 1 year old.

Product Review: Palmer’s Skin Therapy Oil

I’ve been using Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil for almost two weeks now and I’m impressed. A pump nozzle to dispense the oil makes it easy to use and avoids spilling all over the place. Pumping the right amount does take a bit of getting used too though because when you push the pump all the way down it shoots out a lot of oil.   I applied Skin Therapy Oil on four areas – face, neck, CS keloid and stretch marks. Surprisingly, oil was easily absorbed in all areas. Stretch Marks: Creams I used during pregnancy did not work on my skin. Almost two years after giving birth via CSection to two kids, marks became faint white lines – no noticeable change so far. I have accepted the fact that my pregnancy marks will stay with me forever and I’m happy with that. CS Keloids: Occasionally my stitch gets really itchy, makes me want to cut it open and scratch the insides. Therapy Oil didn’t solve problem but it eased itchy level …

First week with PlanetBox Rover

I’ve been searching for ways to pack healthy lunch for V since he started Junior 1 – a filling lunch since school start at 7:10 am and ends at 1:40 pm, I was constantly worried that he might get hungry. Since then I’ve been searching (obsessing) for lunchboxes. We currently own Sahara Tiger Lunchbox, Lock and Lock, GoodByn box and latest addition a PlanetBox.   The Planetbox Rover complete set sells for $59.95 and consists of: – main lunchbox that has 5 compartments – little dipper container – big dipper container – carrying bag – magnets – ice pack (they ran a promotion and got it for free) As soon as LittleMan V saw the PlanetBox Rover he got excited and requested that I pack his lunch in it the next day. I managed to pack 3 school lunch using the rover this week. Here they are: Recipes for lunch food below will be available in the coming weeks.

Cuddles and Crumbs

MyNappyTales is now Cuddles and Crumbs   The name ‘Cuddles and Crumbs’ is a combination of the two main things I share on this blog: cuddles(family) and crumbs (food). It took me almost 6 months thinking of a name that would clearly reflect what I share here. A big thank you to my family and friends for helping me choose the new name.  I hope you like the new name and please do update your bookmarks.

LittleOnes Library: Reading time

iPad is strictly off limits during school days. Kuya Vierte complained that there was nothing for him to do, LittleMiss was sleeping and I was busy cleaning up – I have no one to play with, he said. I told him to read me a story a loud, he once again complained that we already know all the stories and all of our books are for babies. I reminded him that we did have books for 6yo kids – some from Dr. Seuss and Encyclopedia for kids. With a sad face he stomped and browsed our book shelf. Finally, he chose “Time for Kids: Almanac 2014” and minutes later – silence – he was enjoying. I promised him that Mommy will stop work and take time to sit down and read with them.

Mattress Sanitazing Treatment by The Healthy Home

Both kids suffer from some kind of dust allergy. We are especially concerned about Kuya V’s almost daily morning sneeze and recurring wheezing cough. I don’t want him to go under Singular medication again. “Impurities and micro-organisms such as dust mites, bacteria, mold, fungi and viruses are easily brought into your home from your external environment through AC ducts/ventilation, shoes, bags, clothing and even your skin. “ To try and fight off his allergy we do the following – change bed/pillow sheets every week, vacuum and steam mattress 2x a week, wash pillows and sun-dry every month and lastly I insist on changing our pillows (we are a family of “sleeping droolers”) every year. I received an email from Mr. Hisham Jaber, one of the founders of The Healthy Home ME (HHME) offering us a complimentary mattress sanitizing treatment. I am aware of the company and have read about Corrine’s review here, I even joined several online competitions sponsored by the company but sadly didn’t win. I accepted the complimentary treatment and asked to be …
