How to Renew Philippine Passport in Dubai

V and I went to the Philippine Consulate this morning to renew our passports. Mine expired this month and V due to expire on November. Arrived at 7am to queue, Dad C was in line for us while the kids and I stayed in the car. Around 5 minutes to 8 am the line for passport application was escorted inside the consulate, this time Kuya V was with Dad. After 15 minutes Dad C called me to go inside the consulate, our passports were processed first since Kuya V (5 years old) was with us after 30 minutes we were done!

Yes we may have experienced a fast smooth process because Kuya V was with me, but I do believe that the Consulate is trying their best to accommodate everyone the best they can.

Some tips to ease application woes:

Check when your passport will expire, and take note of it. (If Dad C didn’t buy our tickets for June I wouldn’t have known that my passport will expire this year.
Book and appointment, you don’t need to get this yourself you can ask a representative to get one for you. Dad C went to the consulate to book for us.
(a) Go to the consulate to get an appointment (this is what we did)
(b) Send a private message at the facebook page – PCG Dubai and N. Emirates with your Full name, Passport  number, and mobile number.

Fill our E-Passport Application Form. As of February 2013 you can get the form here, click/point one of the box, type details and print. You can also get application form on the links below.
(a) http://www.philembassy.ae/downloadforms.html
(b) http://www.pcgdubai.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/ePassport-Application-Form11.pdf

Prepare documents.
(a) Old passport
(b) Photocopy of your passport data page, visa page and last page. I suggest you prepare 2 copies of each.

No need to bring photo, they will take your photo during the process no extra charge. You can smile but you can’t show any teeth (I hate this part since I look weird smiling without showing my sparkly white gems) and ladies will be asked to remove earrings and make ears visible. Remember you will use this document for 5 years so wear something presentable and practice your smile.

Be early, you are suggested to come between 8:00 – 10:00 am. As I’ve said we arrived at 7 am and about 30 people were already in line before us.

Bring a Pen (with blue or black ink). Just in case you need to do corrections or fill out a new application.

Prepare Dhs 240 for each passport renewal application.

Bring food and water, just because I don’t want you to be hungry.

a lot of Patience. It can be frustrating to be waiting for hours but please do remember that people working at the embassy are doing their best to accommodate everyone.

You don’t really need to take a whole day off to finish as long as you come prepared. Some went without getting prior appointment and got disappointed because they were not accommodated, I really suggest you get an appointment.

Crying over the claw game machine

ClawGame2

Kuya V begged me a dirham to play the claw game at Lulu, we don’t allow him to play this silly game since I know he will not get 1 dusty toy out. He insisted since he never tried it once so I gave in.

He moved the claw from left to right just above the red plush toy push the button, he watched the claw move down with a wish to get the toy but the claw didn’t even manage to grab the toys tiny hair.

Poor kid played it twice and failed. He cried all through out 30 minutes of grocery shopping asking me why he failed even if he tried he’s best.

Chloe Isabelle – 8 months

Chloe Isabelle 8 months

She is 8 months old today!

This LittleMiss has taken over our lives in happy busy way. She’s been literally all over the place refusing to stay in her playpen and would demand to be carried or held up for her to practice walking.

Oh yes! she has been doing a lot of standing and moving very fast, one minute you’ll see her quietly lying in bed the next second she already manage to sit up without any help. And she’s been mastering what V would call “pretend cry” to get our attention, the moment I let her play inside the playpen she’ll do this hysterical “they’re abusing me” kind of cry and by the time she’s in my arms she’s wearing the sweetest smile.

at 8 months old:

  • she’s eating 2 full meals a day (broccoli, sweet potato, potato, carrot, chicken breast, apple, pear, banana, plum, green peas, organic brown rice, organix multigrain and hipp nibbles)
  • sit up without any help from us
  • push herself up to stand
  • hold things in each of her hands
  • drink water in a cup – she still hasn’t figure out how to drink in a sippy
  • “Ka-ka” that’s her favorite word and she first address it to Kuya V
  • “Mama” and “Didi” she can say this when she’s upset and want to direct attention to mom and dad
  • she only smile to people she’s familiar with
  • demands to be breastfed at exactly 7pm and falls asleep for 1 hour
  • still no sign of any teeth coming out anytime

Happy 8th month our Issa-Pie! Thank you for bringing extra joy to our family.

a visit to they Eye Doctor

Kuya V ended 2012 wearing eye glasses to correct his astigmatism.

I’ve been getting several inquiries on why he’s wearing one and what decided me to have his eye’s checked. It all happened when LittleMiss went to the pediatrician for her 5 months check. Out of the blue I just asked Dr. S if I need to bring Kuya V to an eye doctor even if he’s not complaining of any problems. His reply was, as soon as your child reach the age of 5 you have to visit an ophthalmologist for a routine check as it is just the right age where your little one is able to properly answer questions and recognize the letters/pictures on the test. This is of course if during your pediatrician check your doctor didn’t find any obvious reasons for an eye check before the age of 5.

Just before Christmas and shortly before LittleMiss turned 6 months we scheduled Kuya V to see an ophthalmologist at a specialty hospital but then got turned off because Kuya V need to go back for 3 separate days to complete the check and the doctor is only available in the morning. Hubby didn’t like the idea of just me and the kids travelling to the hospital.

eyeDoctor

While having Christmas lunch Daddy C asked if I can check if we can get a schedule at City Hospital, so happy they have 1 slot left for the day. Kuya V was checked at 3 pm by an  ophthalmologist first then an optometrist. Several eye reading test was done in about 30 minutes & 1 hour interval, the nurse also put some eye drops that was necessary for test. All test was done and the ophthalmologist explained to Kuya V and hubby C why he need to wear glasses and what was the problem.

From what I understand (from Hubby’s explanation) V has an astigmatism which he inherited from my husband’s side and that he needs to wear spectacles for 5 years and have his eye check every 3 months. Now during the 5 years duration test results might show that he doesn’t need to wear one anymore.

He’s instructed to wear specs everyday and gets to remove them only when taking a bath and sleeping. Next check will be this March so hopefully things improved.

I do suggest that you go have your kid’s or your eyes check at least yearly even if you don’t notice any obvious problem.

SheyaVierte

Vierte with birthday girl Sheya

Our family friend, the Mendoza’s celebrated the 7th birthday of their youngest at Novotel Hotel. Pretty Sheya had 2 birthday gowns for the event.

Kids presented a Move’s like Jagger Dance and V had a special last dance with Sheya.

V was Sheya’s last dance.

He’s such a young man now worrying about clothes to wear and what shoe’s goes well with it and his hair has to be spiky. He’s got 5 girlfriends and one special girl to whom he likes to hold hands with.

You will always be Mum’s 1st baby boy!

Guess how much I love you

There’s a new show over at eJunior – Guess how much I love you – The adventures of little nutbrown hare

Guess_How_Much_I_Love_You

I bought our book before I gave birth to V, and read it to him when he was still swimming inside my tummy. Now he’s helping me read the story to her sister.

Now I’m searching for a DVD on the series.
