Rosa Mexicano, The Dubai Mall

Earlier this month we were invited to dine at Rosa Mexicano’s Dubai Mall branch. Our knowledge of Mexican food is limited to guacamole and burritos. This is our second time dining at Rosa Mexicano and they definitely opened our taste buds to something more.

We ordered a single serving of guacamole which is good for 2 to 3 persons, we had enough leftovers to feed another person. Among the three included in Tres Antojitos the best one for us are the empanadas. Our family is kind off addicted to liquor free margaritas and mojitos, Kuya V ordered another glass. Read More

Paper hot air balloon for the Goat who wanted to fly

I love books and I can’t say No when the kids ask me to buy them one. We attended the Emirates Literature Festival and bought several books, one of them was by Julia Johnson – The goat who wanted to fly

The story is about a goat who dreamt of flying as soon as he opened his eyes. He tried every possible way to fly like a bird but sadly failed. That did not stop him from dreaming, he climbed the tallest mountain and surprisingly woke up to a wonderful surprise – the goat found himself flying inside a hot air balloon.

Our palace visit at Al Hayl Fort & Square

Al Hayl Palace Square

Few weeks before our staycation at Fujairah, Kuya V’s Social Studies homework was to gather pictures of fort’s found in United Arab Emirates. Fort is a building designed to defend the country and sorrounded by troops.

He was so excited to finally see the fort in real life. (A personal note for my husband) Travelling with kids is not just about visiting amusement parks, it is a perfect way to teach them about history too. Read More

A relaxing family stay at Novotel Fujairah

Last weekend, we packed some stuff and drove to Fujairah. Novotel Hotel was our host for two nights, which is located at the heart of the city and just a few minutes away from the city mall. You can search for Hotel Novotel Fujairah on your google maps for easy navigation.

Daddy C mentioned that Novotel/Ibis hotel’s caters mostly to business travelers. I didn’t do any research on what the hotel has to offer for our family of four, Daddy was sure though that if they have a swimming pool then him and the kids will be happy. Read More

Leaf Printing

We spent the evening at the park after dinner. Daddy and Kuya played basketball while we took a stroll. LittleMiss noticed the fallen leaves and flowers on the grass and asked if we can take them home.

“Ahhh, it’s so cute Mama.”

She was stroking the leaves and took notice of it’s bones (I don’t know the proper name), and that there was something different from each leaf. One of them was small and yellow while the other one was big and green. We slept with her nature stash from the park that night, I managed to save two leaves and turn them to art.

Road to Fujairah

Last weekend, we packed our bags for a short trip to explore Fujairah, one of the seven Emirate of the UAE. The UAE is composed of seven Emirates namely (as dictated by Kuya): Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quawain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.

We first visited the Emirate last 2009 along with our friends, Dad recalled that it took us almost 3 hours of drive. He decided to take the day off and wanted to leave as soon as Kuya get’s back from school.

I told him of the new road and when we searched for our destination – Novotel Fujairah , google maps estimated our time travel to be 1 hr and 40 mins from Al Qusais.

The Sheikh Khalifa Highway which was opened last 2011, took almost 4 years to complete. A relief to those who travel daily from Dubai to Fujairah.

Here’s a few photos I took on our way. I was seated on the front and Daddy C was driving.

We just can’t stop admiring how beautiful the mountains around the highway. The UAE government funded the 40 kilometere highway to a whopping Dhs 1.7 billion. How many mountains did you they had to blow up to provide travelers this new route?

I so wanted to stop and have our photo’s taken but the kids were sleeping.

We spent a relaxing weekend at Fujairah and got to know the other side of UAE. Excited to share the places we visited on our next post.
