For the first time we attended some sessions featured at Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, there was a lot to choose from but decided on two session that interested our Kuya V.
1st Session: The War Horse Puppets in Action
Daddy and Kuya attended the session together. Both boys were so amazed on how the puppets were made, it takes them 1 year to complete 1 horse. It takes 3 men to carry one horse puppet and they have to study every move a real horse make – how the ears moves, the tail and even the sound it makes.
Kuya noticed that he was the only young kid in the audience. His next wish is to watch the War Horse play.
2nd Session: Exploding Adventures
A whole lot to choose from the Children’s programme, we unfortunately only have time for Friday morning. I was so sad that LittleMiss and I missed the Gruffalo of Julia Donaldson as well as the Mad Hatter’s Tea party.
I read all the sessions suggested for 7 year olds and Exploding Adventure’s caught his attention, because it would really be nice if all the loo’s exploded.
He’s been struggling with his English Writing subjects, in the session Rachel Hamilton shared her process on creating a story. Hopefully, Kuya got some inspiration from the session and make use of it in his exam.
We bought Rachel Hamilton‘s two book – Exploding Loo and Exploding Brains and had it signed. He now owns his very first book with a message addressed to him from the author!
There were few activities under 7 yr olds get to do at the LitFest. LittleMiss and I found a reading and craft corner, watched students from different schools play instruments on stage and finally shopped for books.
Craft activities from iheartcrafting and souvenir badge from drawingsbyme.
There were a lot of books to choose from and respective authors were also present to sign them! I hope we have more time next year and attend more session.
Looks like you had a lot of fun! I love it when kids show an interest in reading. Great stash of books you got too 🙂 #letkidsbekids
We did have fun. Hoping to join more series next year.
What a great festival, it looks like a lot of fun and a fab way to inspire children.
Thanks for linking #LetKidsBeKids
It was. They might not truly appreciate now how special it was to meet the authors, someday they will. Thank you for dropping by.
How awesome is it to own autographed books at such a young age!
