Family Fun Day @ Al Tamimi Stables

We spent a lovely Friday at Al Tamimi Stables located in Sharjah with family friends Mio (ThirdCultureFamily) and Grace (SandierPastures). LittleMan V only knew about the days activity when he woke up that morning, and was anxiously waiting for his Daddy C to come home from a basketball game. Too excited indeed that both kids can’t contain themselves to sit and eat breakfast. We drove for 30 minutes and finally reached our destination. Sharing some photos: Central area where families gather to enjoy the sun, children ran and bounce in the castles like there was no tomorrow. Al Tamimi Stables is a 30 acres of lush farm area with over 500 domestic and exotic animals. Sports facilities, stables, petting zoo and cafe are among other things that will keep everyone busy. Basic ‘Falconry’ class – did you know that the falcon is the fastest animal!          LittleMiss C saw the Falcon and just screamed “tweet tweet…birdie” while LittleMan V was so fascinated that he asked so many questions and was the first one …

Happy Healthy New Year!

I believe we are in the 3rd week of January and this is my first post for 2014. Oh dear, days go by so fast this month will soon be over. I’ve been really busy with Mommy duties since the holidays, V’s 1st term exam for all his 10 subjects is happening this week, having a child in school brings up parenting levels (& anxiety) a higher notch and believe but it feels like I’m also taking the exam.   MyNappytales family promised that for the year 2014  we will start eating more fruits everyday. Daddy C and I want to be a good example to the kids. A fruit platter now serves a centerpiece of our dining table – since we always see it and available within reach we were able to consume all the fruits (photo above) within 3 days. Both LittleMiss and LittleMan can sit down and consume a bowl of sweet strawberries while watching movies and so I’ve decided to add another berry to the list – a raspberry. We bought …

Santa’s Grotto at Wafi Mall

Have you had your family picture taken with Santa Claus? This is the 2nd year that we’ve had our family picture taken with Wafi Mall’s Santa Claus. It would cost you Dhs 60 for each kid and you get to have a copy of the picture and toys for kids as well. Be prepared with food & water for the kids, we waited for 2 hours on queue before it was our turn to see Santa. This year, just outside Santa’s grotto, kid’s can do some crafts to keep them busy. LittleMan V prepared a list and proudly handed it over to Santa and they had a little chat if he has been good boy, which proudly answered YES! LittleMiss C was very quiet, then it was time for a family picture. She suddenly cried shouting “NO…Ayaw…No Mama.” Crying stopped when she saw Santa Claus gave big brother a toy and she also got one. LittleMiss gave Santa Claus a shy smile and wave him goodbye. As of writing, we lost LittleMiss C’s doll …

Train ride with my Little Ones

My first train ride with two kids happened last weekend. Daddy C was on a business trip to India and I have to go to my dentist. I can’t reschedule my dentist appointment since it was important that my orthotic device (for my TMJ) be adjusted. We had a long train ride ahead of us: Stadium station to Marina station. V was very excited while I kept on praying that LittleMiss won’t ask for “nanan” (breastmilk) for the entire ride. V saw the sign just perfect for us! But we didn’t get to sit. It was 8:30 am and the train was full! Both kids still in a jolly mood, V was entertaining LittleMiss doing his balancing act. We finally got to sit after 6 stations and the kids getting bored already. LittleMiss want me to buckle & un-buckle her while in the stroller. Good thing, iPadNanny was with me who managed to keep the kids (& passengers) entertained with Despicable Me 2 till we reached Marina station. V took care of LittleMiss with the …

Hello December! 2013 Advent Calendar

Last year we started a family Christmas tradition – Advent Calendar & 1 tree ornament for each kid. This year Daddy C want to add a Christmas village, I agreed but we won’t purchase a whole village in one go! He finally agreed, and we decided to buy a Nativity scene & mini Christmas Tree’s (we have 2! Daddy bought the green one because our “village” is too brown). LittleMan V was looking forward to his advent calendar gifts, I really didn’t like the idea that he only think about getting gifts so I had to look for a different activity. We want to teach him that this season is not just about receiving gifts, I searched the web and found something we can all do together – the Story of First Christmas. You too can get the story for Advent here, it’s still the 3rd day you can still make up for the two days you’ve missed. Every night before sleeping we read a snippet of the Christmas story. Our LittleMiss advent activity is …

Goodbye my Banker

“Neng, wala na si Bernard.” A message I got from Kate. My hands was shaking while trying to confirm the news. I tried calling his number but his mobile was turned off. Bernard was my constant date and whenever I feel blue he was just a call away. He helped me organize Navidad party for Yuppeace – this is the time that we really bonded. The night of the party he was so happy with his newly purchased Celio long sleeves only to find out that it looked like what the waiters wore. He insisted that he still stands out (from the waiters) because I was beside him. Bernard is one of Vs GodParent. He insisted to sit in the front row during the baptism ceremony. He was part of my family. Wednesday night Coy found old photos and videos of Yuppeace activities and we talked about Bernard. I told myself that I’ll call him the following day but I never did. We always have lunch or sit down for coffee whenever we went home …

Skylanders Swapforce

V was excited for October to come. It’s his birthday month and ActiVision will release a new batch of Skylanders the Swapforce (USA release Oct 13 and UAE release Oct 18). It’s only during his birthday that we allow him to buy an expensive toy but just one and if it’s too expensive he get’s to choose between having a party or just the toy (he usually choose the toy). This year was different Lolo Dino (my Uncle Dad a resident of Kansas City) asked him what he wants for birthday and Christmas without any hesitation he told his GrandPa names of Skylander characters that he wants to add in his collection and to make sure Lolo doesn’t forget anything he made a list.
